Software to control computer with gamepad

I have a PS2 controller plugged into the PC with a USB adapter. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. What I would like is to be able to control the computer with the gamepad, ie be able to move the mouse with the analog stick.

If that is not possible, a great functionality would at least be able to play/pause media player.

Any ideas?
