Software testing Certification courses. Which ones are good

Hey there fellow techies.

one of my pals is looking to do a course in software testing and get certfication for the same. He is currently in India so he can only do Online courses.

Couple of questions

1 Which courses are good?

2 What kind of certification is considered an industry standard and is recognised by employers?

The field of testing would mainly be

1 Java and Web Based applications
2 Stress testing
3 Quality control
4 Business process testing

Any help and direction greatly appreciated.
 
I didn't even know there was certification for software testing. My company hired some big wig as the manager of software testing cause he's got years of experience, and then rotate developers/programmers to be on the testing team for a few months at a time to let them see how testing is done in order to make them better programmers/developers. Currently it's my rotation to be on the testing team, and while it's kind of boring and repetative, I learned a ton that makes my developing that much better because I have the mindset of a tester now.
