Software Testers Wanted

I am looking for someone, maybe more than 1 person, to Beta test some software I have been working on.

It is a network based IN/OUT board with messaging system called PhoneMGR©. In larger companies, it can become a tedious task to keep up with where everyone is at and when they will be back. If a call comes in for someone and they are in the building, it's not always possible to get ahold of them. This program helps with that problem.

Program Description

*consists of 3 programs (PhoneMGR, PhoneOperator, PhoneAssist)
*no installation required, support files included.
*allows users to manage their in/out status from any pc and to check messages from any pc.
*allows receptionist position to view status of any users at any time and leave messages of recieved calls.
*allows central management of users/messages/database etc..
*reduces the amount of over-head paging.

Keep in mind, this is version 1.0 so there might be a few bugs, but if the person testing it informs me of glitches/bugs/etc.., I will update the program as quickly as possible and provide a fix to continue testing.

Beta Testing

*I need someone who has a decent pc based network to test this out. I have 5 pc's at home but that isn't enough to really put it to the test.
*I want someone that is willing to update me on usability and any bugs that may be found.
*I want someone that can provide positive feedback about recommendations/suggestions (i.e. not "Your program sucks")

By Beta testing this, I will allow the tester to use the program for free until the end of the year.

If you are interested, please let me know.

Once I have selected who will test it for me, I will provide the program and support files to that person.

Thanks :)

Sorry, I am looking for volunteers only.
LoL...you are the only person that has asked me that on any of the forums I post at :)

I'd gladly volunteer, but you're not yet a reputable member, considering your postcount. Sorry bud, gotta trust ya before I volunteer for anything about putting someone else's software on my computer.

Good luck

Sorry my reputation isn't up to par. I was referred to this forum from BroadBandReports and WildersSecurity (where my reputation is top notch)

Thanks for the reply

Interesting
but most office phone networks/systems already have a display for the operator to view whos in/out or on the phone before they transfer the caller to the intended user. Usually these are dependant on the phone system installed so they tend to be a) archaic b) expensive c) crappy :)

Hmm...test for free. Sure, right. Remember, you get what you pay for in S/W QA.

I agree, but I know from experience that if someone happens to be at lunch or in a meeting or in another office, that the person at the front desk knows they are in the building, but don't know where. This allows them to change their status and retrieve messages from anywhere in the building.

Yes test for free. I've never had anyone ask me to pay them for testing software. I've been testing software for years for companies, none of them paid anybody for testing. I beta test Microsoft products as well without pay. :)

I'm just looking for user feedback from someone that will give the program a shot and help me work out any bugs that may be present.

By the time big companies release "beta tests" they've already been tested thoroughly by internal testers who are paid. External beta tests are for broad compatibility tests. There are probably tens of thousands paid testers in software companies around the world. FYI.

It will be a per-site license. Did this answer your question? :)

Sure does, I wish you luck and hope you get your bugs found. As interesting as the software sounds, I'll sit this one out.

You're a sucker then. I was a paid beta tester for a consulting company last year.

no pay for beta-testing? Blah, cold deal. If you want serious beta-testing done, especially in a network setting you want it deployed, you need to pony up some money. Remember, there's no free lunch, only a cheap one.

Hmm...

I've never had anybody ask me to pay them to test my software. I'm insulted. I've got a dozen or so testers from various forums and none of them asked for a dime. The fact that I'm letting them use the software until the end of the year is enough for them.

Plus it is something they've been wanting to get for their offices.

Sorry to offend everyone here by asking for help without "ponying up some dough"

Thanks

I'm surpirsed how many people are bitching about being paid... If I had a large enough network I'd help out for free. Don't listen to these cold hearted bastards who think they deserve pay for their time. Some people just don't wanna help for free (I also think they're treating you different because of your post count, as horrible as that sounds).

Thank you very much. I apprciate it. :)

I agree with you. Sorry my post count isn't in the thousands everyone. Maybe I could post a few hundred jokes real quick and boost it up there. Would that make me more credible? If you question my integrity, go to wildersecurity forum or broadbandreports forum and look me up.

It's obvious who just wants to make a quick buck. Thanks but no thanks, I would rather have someone test it that wants to actually use it, not just to get some money out of it.

Thank you again gorcorps. Glad to know you would help me out if you could.

You want something for free (us spending our time on your product so you can sell it and make a profit) that you made, and get a hissy and pissy when we ask if you're paying.

You poor guy....here's hope'n you make it through this princess.

Your website template is glitchy in Firefox too. The nav bar colors for the "active" window changes, but the last page stays "active" in the nav bar as well. Font is different on the footer, and you left your http://www.freesitedesigner.com/ image on one of the other pages. You might want to use images that are resize friendly. You scaled images that were originally small, and they look pixelated now. Just some suggestions...

I'm not even going to waste my time responding to that...

For everybody else:
I wasn't looking for just some run-of-the-mill person to volunteer a network to test my software. I was posting to see if anybody out there, that actually had a job with a few networked computers, would be able to use this software. If so, then I would allow them to test it for me and use it for free. I don't want anybody to test it just for the sheer fact of testing it. That wouldn't do me any good. I am offering for a working environment.

Funny...no problems anywhere else but here

If you don't need the product for your office, then I don't

Thank you for your input :)

I've actually been redesigning it for the last few weeks. I had originally done it through the freesitedesigner but didn't like it. I am aware of the bugs you reported above, but I do appreciate you telling me of them. Hopefully, I'll have it back to normal shortly.

Thank You again :)
