Software rebates (ie: Norton Antivirus) that's contigent on a previous version

my mobo from 4yrs ago came with Norton Antivirus 2002.

What proof do they need of a previous version?

It should give a definition of "previous version" on the rebate slip. If you can find the rebate online, you don't have to buy the product to find out. :)

by providing one of the following:
product CD, product disk (disk 1 only), title page of the owner?s manual from a retail purchase, or the email confirmation from a download purchase.

sigh.. since my version came w/my mobo, it doesnt have an owners manual :(

I had this problem once and one of the things you could do was print out the "About page" (I think) which contained the subscription number and some other kind of registration number. I sent that in with the rebate and it was fine. Though, you should read the rebate closely to see what can be done.
