Software RAID and OS crash

Hi,

I have a SSD drive and x2 2 TB mechanical drive. If I put the 2 TB drives in a software raid 0 (stripe) using Windows 8 and the OS crashes on the SSD drive will I lose all my information on the RAID drive? Thanks.

David

Not that it couldn't happen, but it's unlikely. If the SSD drive just flat out dies it shouldn't effect the raid 0 array at all. You should be able to re-install your OS and see the array just fine. Now there is always the chance that whatever harms your SSD will also harm the array.

Well put

In any case, back yer sh*t up. Always.
