I've been using the same software for a while now and I'm curious if anyone out there has suggestions for alternatives to what I have listed below.

Office Suite
OpenOffice [http://www.openoffice.org/]

Browser
FireFox [http://www.mozilla.com/]

Media Player
WinAmp [http://winamp.com/]

VLC Media Player [http://www.videolan.org/vlc/]

Instant Messenging
Trillian [http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/]

Password Management
Whisper [http://www.ivory.org/whisper.html]

Revelation [http://www.snadboy.com/]

Image Editors
Gimp [http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/]

Image Viewer
IfranView [http://irfanview.tuwien.ac.at/]

FTP
Filezilla [http://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla]

Text Editor
UltraEdit [http://ultraedit.com/] - This is the only non-free software on the list. Are there better free alternatives?

I like the command line FTP over filezilla, I like most anything over trillion (gaim being my first pick).

I'm not unhappy with any of these, but I haven't changed which apps I've been using for a long time and figured there might be better alternatives.

I am looking for touch utility that will let me right-click on a file and/or folder and let me touch that file and/or folders (and all sub-folders).
