Software install problem

Hi guys

Ever since I have had Flight Sim X I have had an install problem.

Due to a corrupt install of another related program, I am having to reinstall the game and all is well until it gets to the end of Disc1 when it asks me to insert Disc2. I do this and click OK but it refuses to recognise that Disc2 has been inserted and keeps asking for it.

I have never had any problems with any other use of the CD/DVD drive or other software in it. I have 2 CD/DVD drives, one is a read only but the same thing happens whichever of the two drives I try to use.

Any suggestions of how to get past this impasse would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a bad disc to me. Can you browse the contents of the disc 2 in Windows Explorer? Or try the installation on another computer to see if the same thing happens.

Yes....both dics are original and pristine. In fact when I first had the game and this problem occurred, I sent the discs back to 'Game' and got my money and then purchased from Amazon. So the problem definitely lies some where in my rig.

The only way that I have been able to get this game installed was to copy the 2 discs to C: and the click setup! But for some reason tonight, there is a corrupt sound file and the install by this method is aborted. Unless you guys can offer an alternative, I will have to copy the 2 discs to Drive C again and install that way again.

Try clearing out all the temp files and prefetch files.
Also in your user profile .. especially any folders that
relate to that game. And try to slow down the read speed
of the drive. See if that helps.

Are the optical drives labeled "D" and "E"? I've seen some older apps that always seemed to look for "disk 2" in the "D" drive.
