Software for switching video card output?

essential

Senior member
I have a Leadtek 6600GT with one AGP and one DVI output. The card does not support dual monitor output to my knowledge. I currently have a 24" Soyo monitor hooked up through the DVI output.

I recently bought 40" Sony LCD with a AGP computer input. I bought a AGP cord long enough to reach from my computer to TV from monoprice, but since my video card only supports one at a time, I have to manually restart and unplug one cord (DVI if I want the TV to get the signal, or the TV if I want the monitor to get the signal). I assume the card does some kind of auto-detect during start-up.

Is there a piece of software that will allow me to switch between the video cards analog and digital output from within Windows, without restarting?

Basically if I choose AGP, my monitor goes black, but then my desktop is on the TV, and vice versa if I choose DVI, the TV goes black and the desktop is back on the monitor.

Thanks.

I think you mean VGA input and VGA cord not AGP don't you 😉 (AGP is a graphics card socket on older motherboards)

And a 6600GT should support dual monitor output - I have an old 6800GT running 2 monitors in work quite happily 🙂

Get the latest driver from Nvidia.com and then run the Nvidia control panel and you should see dual monitor options in there, I will be quite suprised if the card doesn't support it to be honest!!

You're right. Upgrading to the latest drivers gave me the nvidia control panel which allows me to "clone" the monitor to the TV. I probably haven't updated the drivers since I got the card. Didn't even think to do that since I didn't think it supported dual video.

Thanks.
