It seems one of my hdd's has failed.
During a reboot last week, I fired up a shortcut a folder on my 120gb Western Digital, and it was slow to come up. Then I noticed only a third of the folders were there. When I tried exploring a folder, nothing happened. I restarted again, only to find that disk chocked full of errors. XP's chkdsk couldn't even fix - it would say "an unknown error has occured" after about 10 minutes of error checking.
Partition Magic said "Critical #45 CRC error in data."
It also said the partition on that 120gb disk was empty.
Is this disk worthless? What's the best app for checking my hard drive's quality. I want to see what's wrong with it before and after I format it to use again.
