Software for batch image conversion?

I have quite a lot of PNG game screenshot files and the main folder is over 5 gigs now. One screenshot averages around 3-4 mb, so I would like to convert all of them to JPEG to decrease the total size, retaining most of the quality. What software could I use for the conversion process? And what settings should be used to keep the quality as best as possible, 90 percent or something?

Thanks in advance.

Well an almost thank you for Irfanview, except it doesn't handle 16bit tiffs :-\
FastStone has issues handling non-sRGB tiffs, colors get all messed up or the entire tiff file is corrupt (i think this is a 16bit issue)

I would also recommend Irfanview. Its batch conversion is very good and will save a lot of time and HDD space. Besides, its free. Where can you go wrong?

In case no one mentioned it...try IrfanView. Of course, unless, you are starting with 16-bit tiff files. Irfanview doesn't support them.

😉

You may be able to compress them further in lossless with pngcrush[1] or whatever the cool kids are using nowadays. See the "See also" section for alternatives. You may gain very little or you may gain more, you'll have to test it to see. I would recommend at least trying this method first as keeping them in a lossless format is preferable.
