i'm 25...and lead a software team for a 750 employee mortgage firm....official title: application development supervisor

i'm technical...but not like super duper geek technical.....today, i got a job offer that pays like 2k more than my current job...making the total to 75k

i'm looking for a coding job...because...if i stay in management...i'm afraid my technical skills will turn to ******...im' really freaking young for my title anyway...

i'd like to work 2 more years as a coder...learn..even more....then become a contractor/consultant/lead/project manager...

what do you guys think...

So wait, are you a coder now or aren't you? You say you want to stay a coder for 2 more years, then become of a "lead/project manager", but your first sentence says you're already a project lead basically? 😕 I would say that the 2k jump doesn't sound worth it if you're happy with your current employer.

I was a coder who got promoted 3 months into the job of supervisor. My gripes w/ my current employeer (politics..and piss on the bathroom floor..lol)

Politics are everywhere you go. I don't care if it's Fortune 500 or mom and pop shop. And if you plan to stay/go into management... prepare for a whole big helping of them (as I'm sure you already know).

Take the promotion. You can still assist in projects by budgeting your time wisely.
