found this ... anyone use anything like this ? My idle temps are about 45-50C for a Barton 2800+ non O/C'd... so I'm thinking I should do something more to cool it.

I don't suppose this proggy would help when I'm actually doing stuff like gaming and general browsing/whatever also, would it ?

There's no way it would help under full load conditions, which is the only real time max temperature matters. It might lower your idle temperature some, but frankly I don't think it's worth the RAM hit.

winxp has build in cpuidle called system idle process which is at 100 percent when you're not doing anything. cpu runs coolest in this state and heats up as you do more things like mp3 or wmp will use about 25-50 percent of your cpu processor.
cpuidle software was used in the ancient days of win95 and 98 but it causes sound hiss/static noise and was undesirable.

That's the one installed right now. ;) I think I'm having paste issues... the damn thing was hard to clip on so it probably shifted around with the paste while I was trying to get that sucker on there... :(

Thanks for the responses, btw, I'll save myself the trouble.
