I just prefer water, sodas make me even thirstier because of all the sugar and they're also bad for health, while bringing nothing useful to the table. If I want taste, I can eat a tomato or drink milk or a tea, with the advantage of tasting real stuff.

The difference is that I don't have a bunch of trash left over.

Oh, and if I add CRV into the equation, the Soda Stream comes out cheaper.

Main brand soda is $.99 / 2 liter basically all the time here. So your calculations are also off a bit.

"99 cents all the time" is basically defined as one of the 4 stores around me always has them on sale for that. IE Meijer, Jewel, Target etc. Right now for example the Jewel has Pepsi and Coke products at 99 cents a 2 liter. Dr. Pepper lines are also 99 cents.

Soda stream simply isn't cheaper because they sell you the materials at prices well above market. It could be if people used generic food grade CO2 and generic soda flavors. If you like main brands you are better off just buying a bar mixing head. Costs more than the soda stream but it should last 10 years or more.

The first liter in a 2 liter is awesome. The last liter is usually a flat mess.

What sizes? Around here, I got Pepsi products 3 12 packs for $6.96, then we have our lovely CRV. But total for the 3 was slightly under $10, these are 12oz cans.

Well, you're lucky then. I've been to three stores this week (Target, Raley's, and Save Mart) and none of them had name-brand soda under $1.25/2L.

My point wasn't that it was cheaper. My point was that it wasn't as expensive as the other guy made it out to be.

Asking for a gift recept is an even jerkier thing to do. Unless the person explicitly asks for something the chance they want the gift you give them isn't very slim.

If someone asked me for a gift receipt I'd be pissed.

It's about the burn of the carbonated water for me. Once it goes flat, all of it tastes like ass.

I love downing half a can in one gulp when I'm really thirsty.

Soda Streams are way overpriced. Just pick up a CO2 tank, regulator, hose and pepsi style keg connector. Place a Carbonater cap on any plastic bottle (16 oz - 2 ltr) filled with water. Hook the hose to the cap and shake for 30 seconds to a minute. The results are carbonated water for just a few cents a liter. I've gotten somewhere between 400-500 liters out of my 10 lb CO2 tank so far. It'll cost me another $20 to fill when the time comes.

:confused: You say "I appreciate the gift very much, but I just don't have room to use it. Would you still have the receipt so I can exchange it?"

Happens all the time, not sure why you'd be pissed.

Sodastream is not worth hassle/cost. See how long the fizz/taste lasts and you'll be dissapointed. Here in So Cal you can routinely get Pepsi products(4x12packs) for $10. In LA,..it comes out to $13.52 otd after CA charges 9% tax on the total [$10+$2.40($0.05crv x 48 cans). That still comes out to $0.28 per can....It might not be as cost effective as the sodastream product...BUT you can't beat the fizz/taste of a cold,...commercially canned product. By the way...pepsi throwback is made with real sugar. So no syrup or co2 canisters required!!! And if you recycle...you get your $0.05 back per can. For an even better deal,...keep an eye out and you might find (5) 12 packs for $10+tax&crv.

I buy a 12 pack so i dont have to clean that bottle everyday or everyother day and i have to make my own soda? Hell no!

Whole Foods has surprisingly good soda...their Doctor Pepper & fruit/cream ones are pretty dang awesome :thumbsup:

Tried one at Xmas at somebody's house. I thought it was stupid. It isn't going to save much money, it is a hassle, the diet cola tasted bad, and the cream soda even worse. I can't believe they were able to make cream soda taste that bad.

Oh and it appears that the non diet stuff has Splenda in it. Maybe that is why it tastes like asshole runoff.

I like soda, but I don't drink it very often. Usually I will drink tea or sweat tea as a substitute, but rarely even then.

The CO2 from a paintball gun will be tainted with dirt and machine oils.
