I bought it on release day but never opened it due to reading about all the bugs, etc. I returned it, planning on waiting until it got better (and also cheaper) before I bought it again.

I think it's been long enough, so do any of you play it? Is it 'good' now?

I enjoy it now, it's a decent 3rd person shooter. Reminds me of GRAW, but more customization in SOCOM.

I picked it up along with the BT headset from some in FS/FT, so I'll do a quick thread resurrection.

I'm not very impressed with the game. I was kind of expecting a bit more thinking, a little bit less run-and-gunning. But the maps are so damn huge (or at least seem that way) that it seems like the game basically devolves into "who runs into the back of whom first" - or into a giant camp-fest in some cases. Maybe this will get a little better when I get better at the game, but it really seemed like the maps were a bit too complicated for their own good. (FWIW, my last experience at a "tactical shooter" was plain old Counter-Strike, where I was pretty decent.)

Technically, though, the game seems fairly solid. No latency issues I could see, and framerate seemed pretty steady.

qft... bought them game to play with friends
boring...
big maps..lack of action

Maybe it's just my nostalgia talking, but I could see the game being a lot better if it had maps roughly along the complexity of de_dust - three or four chokepoints, a couple reasonable sniping points, and a less busy level design.

For now, I'm still liking Warhawk a lot more.

Argh, I'm so disappointed. I played Socom II hardcore and it is my all time favorite game over any platform. Jeez they should just re-release it onto PS3.
