Socket A mobo recommendations?

I've been looking around for socket A mobos, and I don't know where I should go. Of course, I did most of my looking on Pricewatch. Here's what I'm looking for:

  • Probably going to run a 1 GHz Athlon, nothing more than 1.4 unless it's that much cheaper.
  • Not doing any overclocking of any kind.
  • Currently running a K6/2-450 with PC100 RAM. I'd like to recycle, if possible.
  • Don't want any onboard audio/video. However, I don't mind onboard modems/Ethernet jacks.
  • Looking more for something that runs cool and is stable.

Any suggestions? I currently use an AsusTek P5A, and it's OK. I did have to replace it because a faulty power supply blew it out.

Sounds like you're looking for older hardware :p

I'd recommend an Asus A7V, which you can probably find in the FS/FT forums for under $50. It'll take your PC100 RAM, and will also take PC133 if you decide to upgrade. If you can spend a little more money, the EPoX 8K7A is a very good board, but it uses DDR RAM, so it'll boost the price a bit.

Hate to bump, but here's a question for ya. Looking at this mobo (the Asus A7V), it looks like it only supports Ultra DMA/66... any 80 GB+ hard drives to match? If not, are there any other mobos tha fit the specs I listed that can do Ultra DMA/100? Here's the specs.

OPTIONAL: If I can recycle the 192 MB of PC100 RAM, I'd like to. But that's not a requirement or anything.
