I've narrowed it down to a choice between two mother boards to go along with my winchester 3000+. It's either the Abit AV8 or the Soltek SL-K8TPro. Which would you choose and why?

Go with the Epox EP 9NDA3+. Sorry, but it is probably the best 939 Nforce 3/VIA K8T850 board out there. Very stable and OC's very well. It also beats the K8N Neo2 Platinum in many benchies. But out of those two, I would pick the Soltek.

Soltek out of those two but the epox and the asus a8v are not bad either

I've got a MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum and it works great. Others have had issues with it though. Search for it and decide if you can live with it's short comings. If not wait for the Nforce 4 boards (some already out).

Of the two, the Soltek. In benchmarks it's just as fast (in some cases faster) as the MSI K8N NEO2. It's got all the features you would need. People have run into some issues using Antec power supplies with the Abit motherboard.
