so my mobo has decided to take a crap out when i got home. It was a Chaintech vnf4-ultra.

My system specs

1gig pc3200 ddr
A64 3000+(Venice)
330W antec PSU
ATI x700 (I do not game)
300gig HD

What should I do? Should I try to find a replacement board or upgrade to something? This absolutely sucks and I'm thinking about just buying a cheap Dell or something. any ideas that won't cost me an arm and a leg? I know if i want to upgrade I have to change my ram and my cpu and my mobo

-sigh-

The 1gb ddr 3200 might sell for 30-40$, the chip for 20$ maybe, you could keep the rest, get a cheap am2 mobo, throw a x2 3800+ in it, and it'll cost you 100$ or so. Then 70$ or so for 2gb ddr2 667.

If you were happy with your system, does not need more, and did not have plan to upgrade. Get an inexpensive 939mTX mob and keep going.

Otherwise MarcVenice gave you a good advice.

yeah, $40 replacement mobo is your best fix. BTW I'm about to upgrade my 939 to X2, so gonna have an extra 3200+ that I need to get rid of.

any suggestion on the board and where to look? The only place I checked was Newegg and they have the biostar board which has OK reviews.

I just want something solid and stable and reliable.

Biostar boards are usually pretty light on features but they make great boards in terms of design and quality of components.
