Socket 939 HSF Problems!!

Just setup a socket 939 system.

Anyway, I had a lot of trouble getting the HSF on propley, and getting the swing arm to latch down. Is this normal? Because when the latch is down, it makes the middle arm that goes through the HSF push towards one end; looking uneven etc??

I also tried to remove the heatsink once on to try it the other way and it was very difficult to remove as the thermal pad made it stuck to the CPU, so it ripped out when trying to put it back in. Will my CPU be running hotter then normal because I removed the HSF from the CPU once the thermal paste had stuck?

Venice 3000+ running at about 48C idle, 60C at full stress. But the HS isn't even warm to touch? Its still cold.. Did I damage the diode?

Thanks!

Seems like your chip is running hot, my 3200+ Vience at 2.6 Ghz runs at about 36C idle and 44C loaded and it is also on stock cooling (stock fan and thermal paste). I'd say something's wrong, I personally would be worried and would try to reseat the processor. (By the way, installation for my chip was smooth, and I didn't notice any parts sticking unevenly.)

Is it possible the heat diode is wrong? Cause the HS is not even warm to touch, its cold, very cold!

How will reseating the processor help?

Nope. There's multiple answers to this question. I'll sum some up.

-The CFM of the fan of your HSF isn't high enough. This means it doesn't move enough air.
-The HSF isn't seated properly. Get it off, and try again.
-Something's wrong with your thermal grease.
-You didn't apply any (or not enough) thermal grease.
-Your chip sucks/is broken.

I hope this helps.

What do you mean by 'generic'? You mean the standard HSF? You can't make it run any faster, sorry.
