I would not spend much money on a s939 system. It's a dead socket using dead memory. Upgrading to a lower end dual core that is cheap and is known to overclock well makes sense, but spending $300+ on a used FX60 does not. You could get a whole C2D or AM2 processor, motherboard, and DDR2 for what some of the FX-60's are going for on Ebay. Just my $.02

Look at how much this FX-60 is on Ebay.

2.7 here as well on mine...(2nd week 2007 chip). I have to use 1.5V...

Many can hit 3GHz on stock volts. I had thought about reselling mine and buying another, but 300mhz isn't going to really net me anything.

I just replaced my 3000+ which was running at 2.4 Ghz for about 2 years now.. with the Opteron 165..chip is amazing..went from 1800 mhz to 2835 (9x315) right now on air..volts at 1.45 around there, orthos stable for 24 hrs..it heats up to about 55-60 degrees under full load..couldn't be more happy with it big difference from the 3000

manchesters overclock like crap. try to find a 4200, 4400, or 4600 toledo. barring any of those, go for an opty 165. I got an opty 180 and it's ok, but it's not worth the money these days to buy one of those brand new.

opty 185 is nice if you can find one for a decent price, but the cheapest I've seen is over $200. fx60 is great, but you'll pay way too much money to snag one of those. last time I checked they were still going for around 300 used. that would net you an e8400 and a ds3l, which would be a tremendous upgrade over any skt 939 system.

I went from a 3200+ at around 2750 to a 4000+ at 2850 and didn't see as much a night and day difference as going to an Opt 165 at 2700. What used to bog my machine down, is now unnoticable.

The Optys are just great chips. Maybe it's the extra cache or something, but they just have that staying power. An opty with DDR was such a nice sweet spot.

From what I read before I bought it was that since they are server chips they use better silicone and undergo more testing because of the server use..don't want that thing crashin out on you so they end up overclocking higher
