Socket 754 vs. 939

Hi everyone. Basic question: If I'm looking to purchase an Athlon 64 CPU, which is preferrable -- socket 754 or 939?

I'm new at this. Thanks so much!
 
what bw86 said. I bought that combo and trust me it is fast. As of now dual channel does not give a huge boost to speed right now

Yup dual channel is a highly emotional choice since it's performance does'nt justify it's price premium. A64 see very little benefit from running in dual channel do to integrated mem controller already giving outstanding low latency.
