Socket 754 question

The 39 comments on newegg give no benches and no indication of what sli combo they are using...so they are kind of useless beyond stability.

How about "runs exactly the same as any other motherboard like that?" Oh wait, there's no other socket 754 SLI board.

Seriously, unless overclocking, one NF4SLI board runs the same as the next. With the memory controller taken out of the equation pretty much all boards perform within 1-2% of each other, and typically the boards that perform "better" do so because they fudge the FSB/HTT speed up a MHz or two.

If you`re looking at a s754, check out the mobile 4000+ at monarchcomputer
it`s 2.6 Ghz with 1MB L2 cache for $300 US
but, it`s more likely to work well with a DFI infinity but I saw a list once of motherboards that could take it as well.

There are some reviews around the web on this board (PCStats, Bit-Tech.net...) and the general consensus is that it runs about 5 - 10% slower than the "comparable" S939 mobo + CPU... The chipset itself is as good as one another, so the main difference lies with the CPU's (single channel blabla...) If you still have a Sempy around, this is a great match for it...

Thanks for the info i have a 3200 (cpu) and 2 7900 gts SLI. I figured I would wait to upgrade my CPU. To much new stuff on the horizon to lay down big bucks.

I have one, and it is a great board. The only reason I'm not using it now is because I caught a killer deal on an X2 and took the upgrade plunge. One of my buddies and I benched my machine against his and the output from 3Dmark was practically the same. Both machines played games the same so I say go for it!

I plan to build a second machine with it soon
