As long as it's a pentium-m it will work. A desktop based socket 478 chip will not work(ie. pentium 4 or mobile pentium 4). There are 533mhz FSB and 400mhz FSB pentium-m's so you would have to be sure your motherboard supports 533fsb if you were to get a 533mhz FSB pentium-m.

You can't put a P4\P4-M (S478) in a S479 Socket. You can do the reverse though, on some ASUS mobos, with the CT-479. This allows you to run a Pentium M on the desktop, as it's basically a socket-converter. Unfortunately, its currently limited to certain ASUS boards, and I'm not aware that it'll work with others.
I've personally never heard of or seen a S478 Pentium M. The only possible explaination that I can give for those is that, if there were\are S478 P-M's, then they are the earlier ones (Banias Core), not Dothan. Because as far as I know, Dothan is exclusive to S479.
I hope you aren't serious...Originally posted by: spiritwalker2223
Can I fit my 939 into a 754 socket board?
