i have a 2yr old gigabyte slotket which was for my c366, and it says that its for "socket-370 ppga celerons 300mhz and above". does this mean a 900mhz or 1ghz (non-tualatin) celeron would fit? after 500-some mhz, all celerons are fc-pga rt? is fc-pga equivalent to socket-370? thanks!

ps it might be a gd idea to have "cheat sheet" articles for ppl like me who arent technically illiterate, but yet dont have the time to keep up with all the innovations in this industry ... anyone know where to find a "5 minute summary of the last 2 years in the pc industry"? :)

your old celeron was a ppga cpu while the newer celerons are fcpga which have different pin id so won't work with your old board!
if you're technically minded you can do some mods like in this article to make it work!

Yep, you might try the link bactillus posted. but depending on your mobo it might not bring you full speed. I tried it with a dell xps 233, slotket
and celeron fcpga 900 mhz (9x100mhz), it would only boot at 66 bus (thank you dell!......) so 9x66 =594 mhz.
but is is possible.

it needs good skill to solder on the slotket, but @ a few $, the worst that can happen is to kill the slotket. for the pins you need to insulate,
you can try to dissasemble the socket 370 and prevent contact there, so you dônt need to change anything un the cpu!
btw look up voltage possibilities of the slotket. not all meet fcpga reqierments.
