I really like the asthetical changes you've made--it looks good. Is there a way to add games to your collection from the game list? For instance, I clicked on the GTAIV game page but didnt find a button that will add the game to my collection. I'm definitely logged in.

GTA4 hasn't been released yet officially in the US... so you can't add it to your collection yet.

So what if one legally gets a game early, huh? This is obviously discrimination against white people! TO THE STREETS EVERYONE!!

If I knew somebody that had GTA4 early, I'd be taking to the streets to snatch the damn game from their dead hands, not the liberal racist bias of sochl.com. :p :D

Wow, the site looks a LOT better. I personally hated the old style, but I never said anything because I'm just one opinion :). I already see a couple of suggestions that I would make (plus a minor bug that I think I found), but I'll wait on that for when I get home later tonight.

EDIT: I just rechecked, and the minor bug that I mentioned before is that when you are in your games collection, and you remove a filter that you previously applied, it takes you to the Market section instead of back into your games collection.

hehe, yeah I wasn't too happy with the final version of the original look. its still basically the same functional design, it just looks nicer.

As for that bug, its all fixed. Just some stupid javascripting on my part.

Small little update today.

- Added game specific information (so people with friend codes for games can add them to the game, or MMORPG character info can add that stuff too)
- Added browser based IRC chat for community members.

Larger Update today 5-15-08:
- User-defined profile banners added (example)
- Release date calendar comparison (example)
- WiiWare platform added
- some bugs were fixed

There's also an ongoing 360voice gamerscore competition for Sochl as well, you guys can feel free to join it but you'll need to actually join the competition on Sochl to get ranked.

If anyone is annoyed at these updates, please let me know.

Just added my 360, DS, PSP and PS3 collections. Still need to do PC though, but wanted to see how things are coming along on the site. Looks good.

I wanted to let you know I was approached by Gamestrata recently to conduct an interview with the lead guys over there on the Podcast. Upon checking out their website (never heard of them before), it really struck me how similar it is to Facebook. It looks like there are more of these social gaming websites popping up. I dont know if you have (eventual) commercial plans with Sochl or if this is kind of a resume builder, but I figured I would give you a heads up as it looks like direct competition. Are you aware of this site?

For what it's worth, Sochl is the only one I'm sort of active on.

Edit:
- Are there plans (or is it possible) for a reviewer system? For instance, is a system that where people can give impressions or write reviews of games and sotra stick it to a game so that anyone viewing a game will see the review? Additionally, how about a reviewer rating system so people can rate people who review games?

- Please change the button colors at the login screen. :(

Its been a little bit, so here's the latest updates

- RSS has been implemented for users. Each user now has their own blog RSS feed as well as an activity RSS feed that you may subscribe to. Similarly, developmental updates will now be tracked through my blog which is found on all the pages of the site.
- "releasing this week" spans Sunday to Saturday now instead of Monday to Sunday.
- Chat section now allows users to pop open into a detached window.
- Added group count to "quick stats" on homepage
- Added "latest user reviews" to homepage
- Extended "recent activity" to have 50 entries that scrolls
- Fixed bug with wishlist on game pages
- Removed "report" link on game pages for the time being
- If you have a gamertag entered on Sochl, we will detect if you are also a user of 360voice.com and place an icon on your profile.
- Fixed issue where you couldn't view your own stats from your profile page
- I've rolled out all the TZ updates throughout the site so times and dates should now be displayed properly for everyone as long as your timezone is set properly in your profile.
When you upload box art, you will no longer just be given a blank screen.
- "Releasing this Week" now reflects US UK and JP releases, not just US.
- Release Calendar now displays indicators to show US/UK/JP releases
- If you have uploaded enough box art, the system will now recognize it and give you your deserved badge.
- Points updates have been performed
- Added "reply" link to thread responses
- Allowed users to add a game to their collection, if it has been released in any territory we track.

For some reason, I didnt see this post Warcrow. I've seen Gamestrata before, they appear to be very specific in what they do... they have support for like 5 games? Seriously? 5? I haven't signed up for an account, but that sounds really dumb to me. You're going to be that specialized that you will only support games that you can track stats of. Ok, I guess that's a way to do it.

I really don't have any commercial goals for Sochl, just trying to mess around and build something that people enjoy.

In regards to the reviewer system, its already in place. Users can write full on reviews as well as post blog entries about specific titles. I just added a block on the homepage that if users do write reviews, they'll appear there. Also, there is a "endorsement" feature for the reviews, basically allowing you to give your thumbs up to a review... more implications for that at a later date.

Finally, I'm not sure what you mean about the button colors at the login screen. do you just not like the yellow/blue/greens?
