How bout that.

It'd be nice to be able to directly add games when you do a search by publisher. Also I've got the option to edit games I've entered.

I'll mess around with it more tonight and return with feedback.

If you click on a developer now you can see the games that match that developer... but not publisher, I'll make a note of that. We're also going to add the ability to add by platform so people can just take a look at the list and click plusses next to every game they've got.

First thing I noticed is that hitting tab when filling out my login information for the new user sign up took the cursor to the login field in the background, instead of to the password field on the active window.

how about years like 2008, 2009 for games that arent out yet, but would like to add to muh wishlist 🙂

Sure, that can be done.

I was thinking that for future games, the site could be self-aware of the date entered, and maybe put an "Expected Release Date" in front of all future dates, with an option for anyone to edit the release, should it change.

Great suggestion. I'll add that in there for sure.

How do you rate games? I don't see an option to save the rating I choose. If I pick one then navigate away and back to that page, my rating hasn't been added.

Also, will you be including the option to upload box art?

The rating function is written and I'll be adding it within the next few days. It was a small oversight when hitting the beta release date of this past monday.

As for the box art upload, that's going to take some work but we expect to use some freely available APIs to query databases and get the proper box shots so users wont have to. We're looking to keep entry as simple as possible, but if it comes down to it, we'll be adding a function to upload artwork.

I don't really get what is the in/out status supposed to mean? currently playing vs beaten?

*edit*
It also needs an option for gamegear games. 🙂

Game Gear is added as a platform.
The status is to track if you've loaned a game out or not to a friend, or if you are looking to unload it for something else. The FS/FT, FS, and FT will come into play much later (those featuers will be developed after we leave beta).

Ahhh ok. It'd be cool if the user's games page had tabs for each platform or some other quick way to quickly see the games they own on a specific platform.

*Edit*
Possibly a Mac platform too?

I haven't updated this post in a while... there have been a lot of updates since the beginning of October, but here's the latest update.

We've finally started implementing boxshots. I've also included "Also On" display for games that show what other systems a specific game is on... if you know its on another system, and its not on the list, that means no one's entered it into the DB yet. We could use some help gathering the shots, so see this post if you'd like to help out... help out enough, you'll get a fancy badge on the site.

Lots more updates coming that we're working on, but I felt this one should be pushed out. Keep track of other progress at this RSS feed: http://sochl.com/blog/?feed=rss2

Looks like you picked one of the wii dupes that I need to fix. 🙂 That image isnt there, there's a second TP that is. I'll fix that right away. ~J

edit: scratch that, looks like the other dev screwed up something with the wii boxarts... sigh.
such is the life. 🙂

Modeps, have you considered working on a Facebook app and some HTML "gamercards" for the site? I need to register, but last I tried, you had it closed.
