Damn. I think the fact that the US clinched so early and then played their scrubs and lost a couple will cost us a #1 seed 🙁

So are we going to have to stay up half the night like last World Cup to watch these games?
German league games are usually played at like 8am-11am PST, so it won't be like 2002.

USA! USA! USA! Hopefully, the Europeans will show us a little bit more respect after our last world cup showing...some upsets there and hard fought games which surprised Europe!

After that...Germany!

How does this World Cup draw going on right now work?
And what does "S" mean next to Serbia/Montenegro?

EDIT: never mind, it's on espn2

Depending on their strength the teams are divised in 4 tiers. Each of the 8 groups consists of a member of each tier. Only two teams from the same continent are allowed per group, that's why Serbia-Montenegro have their "own" tier.

The groups, for the lazy (strongest team first, weakest last):

Group A
Germany
Ecuador
Poland
Costa Rica

Group B
England
Paraguay
Sweden
Trinidad and Tobago

Group C
Argentina
Ivory Coast
Netherlands
Serbia-Montenegro

Group D
Mexico
Angola
Portugal
Iran

Group E
Italy
Ghana
Czechia
USA

Group F
Brasil
Australia
Croatia
Japan

Group G
France
Togo
Switzerland
South Korea

Group H
Spain
Tunesia
Ukraine
Saudi Arabia

France again for Switzerland... The fifth time during the last three years, heh.

Brazil have to be overwhelming favorites. Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Robinho, Julio Baptista, Kaka, Juninho, Adriano, Diego, the list goes on and on.

Hope the US can get a couple of wins though and make it at least to the knockout stages.

QFT.

How the hell did Nigeria not make it??? I was so looking forward to watching them play.

I remember the 94 (or was it 92?) World Cup when they were playing Italy in the semi-finals and the game went from 3-0 (Nigeria winning) to 3-3 and went into overtime. Such a close game!

Anyone know why they didn't make it this time around?
