I lived up on the north side of the city (Fresno State/Clovis area) and yeah, that was my reaction too (and my friends)! I think its the university being there. Just searched around, here's a pic of the volleyball team there - they're pretty typical:

I was surprised when I visited Salt Lake and Park City... expected to see a bunch of mormon types but there were many hot blondes everywhere. They look much prettier and natural compared to the girls in SoCal.

Any community that has a strong church-based social structure, especially ultra-conservative ones like Mormons or Baptists, is going to have attractive women. They've been selectively breeding for those traits for hundreds of years. And I guarantee you those women are not available to outsiders.

Many Mormons either in Utah and Idaho have Scandinavia blood in them, I remember most of my classmates in high school have either Norwegian or Sweden last name. So if you like Nordic type women, Utah has them. Most of these beauties are married when they turn 18-19.

You can't restrict Salt Lake City to one zip code. First of all that's downtown and doesn't truly represent where the babes are. Second of all Salt Lake City in this context really is talking about the wasatch front, which is the combination of 60 miles or so of cities near salt lake city. Also like said above, the girls aren't on dating web sites because the culture here doesn't require it because you already know and meet everybody through church.

Selective breeding those traits for hundreds of years? LOL dude so it's only the mormons who mate with attractive females I guess. The real reason is the genetic diversity is HUGE in salt lake. People moved there from literally all over the world over the span of a hundred years (and to this day of course) with the basic intent of joining the culture. Unlike many other 'melting pots' where immigrants move into the 'towns' section where they stick to their race (looking at you china town/korea town/irish town/etc at new york). Most of the people originally came from every western european and scandinavian country and their combined genes make todays average Utahn. We all know genetic diversity makes attractive people. Also women in utah grew up in big loving families and desire to have one of their own, they're not scared of ruining their body or career. And they're perfectly available to you if you can win one over, believe it or not they're capable of deciding on a partner. Nobody will step in and forbid it (although you may hear some grumblings from the grandparents generation).
