SoB question.

I have permission to keep the SoB client in two computers that I am going to be selling. However because of other contents on the drives. I have to format the drive. Is there any way for me to save the work on a floppy and get it reinstalled so I do not lose the work it is doing?
This will be a WinME version... if that makes any difference.

Thanks 🙂

Back up the zxxxxxxx file in the SB directory, and also export the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LhDn\sob\cache in the Registry 🙂

open up regedit (start-run-regedit)
search for the key listed above (edit-find)
highlight the key, the export it (registry-export registry file), give it a file name and save it to a floppy or wherever you need to

On WinMe, you may need to run regedt32 if it can't find regedit 🙂

<---- Hasn't used WinMe since it came out, and discovered that it sucks 🙂

That it does, but that is all I have. Somebody stole my 98SE disks :|... but oddly enough left the license's alone 🙂

I hate having to track down a 98 or 95 machine for this simple command when I need to flash a BIOS... format a: /s
😛

regedit is it. I mainly delete stuff from the registry though... I never exported/imported.

You can also run, at the command line:

regedit -e sob.reg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LhDn\sob\cache

where sob.reg is your export file, and it will do it automatically. I think it might be possible to make a caching program this way, if (1) SoB would download a WU when you start it and start crunching, and (2) you added a kill program - they aren't that hard to find.

P.S. To reinstall the .reg file, either double-click on it or run regedit -i sob.reg.

Ken, Louie has said as much.

If someone took up the gauntlet and were to work on a caching type program, I am pretty sure that he would be willing to answer some questions if needed and help out with information as he is available.

edit: if you got real bored or something and wanted to code something up I would be more than willing to drive up to the People's Republic and drop off a case of beer..or two. 😉
