Man I'm trying to get some of the necessities liek tv and internet service lined up for my new apartment, talk about hitting a brick wall! The cable in this town sucks bad, its over priced and the lineup is so bad.... I thought no problem, I've been wanting to try directv or dishnetwork for sometime. Now lets see thats the southern sky....right behind that tree. If I'm not mistaken you can't use the dishes with a big 'ol tree in teh way 🙁 Well okay I'll have to get crappy cable, but I'll get somebroadband hooked up at least.

Whats that? Ohhh no cable modems, yippie. A quick call to verizon and I find out that all the dsl circuits are in use here and maybe if I call back in a month or two they'll have some more ready to go. Goodie again. So now I'm going back to dialup (god save me) and have nothing good to watch on tv. 🙁 Just had to rant heh... ANyone know any other provides of satellite tv that work with the little dishes and don't require a perfectly unobstructed view of the southern sky or maybe a different direction? 😀

You'd be suprised at the angle the satellite signal for DirecTV comes in at. My advice would be to have a professional installer come do a site survey, to see if you really are S.O.L. with that big ol' tree.

Should I try to find a satellite dealer in teh area, or just go into like walmart and talk to someone?

Mr.T I've thought about a late night logging run into the neighbors yard, but he has 3 large dogs that look mean 😉

Got rid of cable 2 years ago and haven't missed it yet. Dial up sucks though, been stuck with that for 8 months now 🙁 Not only stuck on dial up, but can only connect at 26.6.

i agree get a guy to do the installation or the dish, he'll probably know a way out of your problem, ours did.

Well herein town we've got wreally awesome cable, i used to work for them doing some video production work even! Sadly where i'm moving to though has such bad channel lineups, I can't get my favorite channels! I'd pass on tv for braodband but that doesnt seem possible 🙁 Surprising too since its a university town!

I can just imagine my neighbor waking up at night when the chainsaw starts and then just as hefinally decides to get outof bed to investigate hears a loud crash! 😀 You guys are gonna make me get hurt by a falling tree when I decide to do this you know 😉

The satellite dealer (if there is one locally) should be able to put you in contact with an installer. I doubt anyone at Wal-Mart would be able to help.

Scrapster are you stalking me? 😉 Southern Illinois, a city called carbondale.

I've still got adobe photodeluxe v2.0 if you want it btw scrapster. If you want you could send me a mailer of your choice I guess or I'll just upload it to you if you want, it looks like the .iso would be about 375 megs and thats gonna take a while on my 128K upstream!
