I'm frustrated again...
I reinstalled sob as a service after removing it from most of my machines...
I'm confused as to how my total work rate is lower than it was before.
I have added several machines to the group, since they can run undetected.
Now my max work rate has dropped, even with several more computers...
This is my current setup.
The following machines are brand new to sob and are 'not allowed to interact with the desktop' with these switches true: -m, -s, -r:200, -x
One p4 1.8, Four p4 1.6, One p3 700mhz, One p3 550mhz...
The rest of the machines have sob running the same way except they are allowed to interact with the desktop.
dualxeon 1.7, three p.4 1.8, one xp2100@2100mhz
Before I just had these 5 machines running sob and my work rate was well into 1m when they were all running.
I have several more boxes I could add, but these preliminary numbers are dissapointing.
I physically checked on all the machines and the username/team name is correct and they are sending blocks.
All of these except for the p3's report at least ~150 cem/s rate. and sobsvc is still pulling all extra system resources according to the windows taskmanager.
What could be the problem here? Or is the website total work rate supposed to be half of the total reported client rate?

IIRC, the work rate for a given test is calculated by using the time since the test was started. So if you have a bunch of computers with unfinished tests that haven't been runnning the client for some time, you are going to take a hit to your rate. I would watch how much actual work is being done on a daily basis, and if that is significantly different than before (taking into account different k/n values), then you might have a problem. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it.

yeah, amcdonald, it's a average rate, so it's always going to go DOWN. 🙁 It's a real pain in the neck. you can be tooling along, and you get a hickup in a client, and your rate is going to go down, and it will Never go back to where it was.

The solution is to always be adding more boxes. 🙂 It is the only way to stay happy.

Is the rate I'm getting (under 1M daily) right for the amount of machines I have running sob?
My 2100+ alone is working at a rate of 300cems/sec right now, and my overall rate is 800k with all the machines I posted above...

well, maybe it's a bit extreme, but you could create a new account, and switch all your machines over to the new account, and then you could see the real rate that you are really pulling.

Also, you might take a look at : http://marcc.no-ip.org/SoB/Teamstats.php and look at the hourly rate it shows, that doesn't seem to be averaged out in any way.

The hourly rate is the difference between your total on two consecutive hours. The graphs in the userpages show the the average hourly rates calculated over 6 hour periods (one point every 6 hours).
you'll find a bit more detail for your accounts activity here.
Also to get a crude estimate of your daily rate I'd say you can expect about 135kcEM/s/Ghz for athlons (a bit more for P4 a bit less for P3 or SDRAM machines). This amounts to 11.664GcEM/Day/Ghz. It isn't very accurate but it should give you an general Idea of what to expect.
