SoB - bad news

Simply put we need more people helping out. It took a while to beat TeamBeOS, and it appears they will stay behind us. However TeamRetro is catching up fast and will own us in a couple more days unless we can start putting out more numbers.

I will continue to see about more assimilations, however I may have already reached my peak. I decided not to go through the trouble of getting those old servers online for this as they would put out totally horrible numbers for the effort I would put into them. There is two more computers that I am nearly finished with, a PII 266 I expect it to put out an additional 30000 cEMs/sec for us per day. But the other P4 system, it can not come online soon I think. I need a P4 psu and am currently looking for another cpu. I thought I had one locked in the FS thread, but the seller has not contacted me back in a few days now and may have decided to sell to someone else or keep his cpu. Anyway I now only have enough money for one or the other. Not both .

Anyway I was hoping that perhaps some of you may have computers hidden up your sleeves to assimilate so we don't lose our third place position we tried so hard to get.

Also, I am going to see if I can install on my Mom and Daughters machines. (both 900 Durons, not the fastest but.........)

I'm at full capacity, until I can find one of the 2 small 250mb HDDs i've got. When I find those, then I can get a P2 400 on the case, but that's it, that's all 4 computers, and parts of computers, that are available in my house. Unless of course by some chance of miracle, my BP6 decides to work again (i think it's in the same box as the HDD) then I'll have to find something to install an OS on that will support that. However, last time I tried to use it, it was as dead as a run over cat.


It will suck to lose 3rd place

I'll need to split my time between sobsieve and sob. I figure by finishing my sobsieve range first I'll have a higher n to work with when I start back up on sob so my numbers will increase.

after i take the #2 spot (overall) in DF, i will re-evalute my resources and try to give EvilWobbles a run for #1 on the SoB TeAm

i wish i knew how celeron's compare to other cpu on SoB , i have mainly celeron's at work , and i don't like to run them on projects that they do poorly, like SETI

i just am having trouble comparing them on SoB since every job that comes down is different (the "k" "n" stuff)

I'll be adding a P3 933@1000 after the SETI MTR is over on the 31st (maybe a day or two before). I would like to add a XP 2000+ and a Athlon 700 but the client would have to run totally hidden and I don't think the SOB client will do that. They are my brothers and he doesn't mind as long as he doesn't see it.

FoBoT- I see that the DF team is on pace to move up to 3rd or 2nd. Please help out with SOB if you can but don't miss out on a good opritunity in DF.

Confused, our work only goes to the team after register ? isn't like d.net when you do your first register and all the work previouly done also count ?

My client worked for 3 days before i registered and it doesnt show on the team total.


Monday i'll change mobo and help more the team.

I believe that the first time you join a Team, it moves all your work over.

If this is not the case, you may wish to email Louis Helm and explain the situation, then he should be able to sort things out

I thought only the work you did while a member of the team counted for that team. It is bad in situations where folks don't join up right away, but good in the fact that peeps can't move their accumulated work around.

Work done for a team stays with the team...doesn't move with you.

I think i will try this sb client and if everything works fine i will move all my nodes(4) from seti to sb. Maybe i can add a few more nodes that do part time crunching since we are currently building a small cluster at the University.

As for my the duron and P4 I was looking to assimilate fell through for now... I should still be able to get the Duron 1Ghz but the P4 is not looking promissing... I think he will let me run it if I install it. He doesn't want to take the time to intsll it. The only problem is that hes in another state! It is a 2.2Ghz P4 so it would be worth the work.

Oh yeah once I get the PSU I need I will have a celeron 533@800 up and running.

FoBot: I am going to try and find some way to benchmark with SoB. I am thinking there is a way but I am not sure....
