...because your current consoles will stop working the night the new gen is released?

No mainly I give my older systems to a friend or family member who doesn't have it in the budget to get a console. I have kept my NES, and Sega but gave my ps1,ps2, GameCube and Xbox and a 360(got a slim) away. My library of 360 games is pretty extensive at the moment, it just seems this should be easier with the current gen of games.

I can understand wanting to be able to play your same games still but the fact of the matter is that for majority of people it's not important. If not having that capability makes the next round of consoles cheaper than I'm all for it.

Yeah I agree, I don't know about majority though.. For me personally it's one of those features I thought would be really important, but looking back I can count on 1 hand the times I have actually used it.

I know that I am ready for the next gen to come along. I guess I am just ready for a shiny new toy, and want the new Xbox to hurry up and get here.

any AT leagues in Madden/Fifa/NBA2k?

I've tried for the last couple of years to form leagues and only 2 or 3 people ever respond. I just had a new Madden 13 league thread a few weeks back and I think we had 4 people total. When I ran the AT Madden 2010 league, we had 23 people initially claim teams.

Yeah, this forum is pretty much dead - all the major contributors have moved on. Console gaming is far from dead.

It has been an exceptionally slow year and the current gen is long in the tooth, but yeah, it's mostly the forum itself. I've basically moved on to other places to discuss current games. The tone here is so overwhelmingly hostile and negative towards contemporary games (and towards fellow ATers) that its just not a fun place anymore. Dunno where to point the finger but this place is a pale shadow of what it was a few years ago.

i will be gaming again once i get my new 60" ST50 in a week or so. i haven't had my 360 hooked up since i moved on labor day, and i hadn't played it for about a month prior to that because i was getting ready to move.

and then when i get my projector which should be at least 120" screen, i will be gaming on that as well!

i have to do my cat5e wiring though before i can get online, which hopefully will be by next weekend!

This next gen can suck it if the entire library of the current gen titles arent backwards compatible.

Don't worry. 99.9% of the next gen library will be current games copy paste ported over for a quick buck. God knows we can't live with a new console release that doesn't have Activision and EA licking their chops with Wheel of Fortune, Sponge Bob, Jeopardy, Madden, and Call of Duty lined up for launch.

it's only going to go up in price, as panasonic is cutting back production on their 2012 tv's already from what i've read.

That's what I thought when this gen launched. I gave away my Xbox, PS2 and eventually Gamecube. I have yet to play any of my previous gen Xbox and PS2 games to this day. Pretty much started building a back log of Xbox 360 games and some will probably not get played like Assassin Creed 2, New Vegas, God of War 3, Uncharted 3 and so on.

I fell out of single player gaming so my console play dropped a ton. There are a ton of console games I would like to play and just don't. When I don't have a game to play on XBL with friends I generally won't fire up my console. NHL was the last game I bought and I only played that for about 2 weeks before barely firing that up at all.

I want to pick up ME3, RE6, COD:BO2, and Dark Souls still but lack the push to actually go get them. Out of those games COD will probably be the only one I grab and I know full well I will only get a month or 2 out of it tops. I saw the money come out of my account for XBL and I shook my head because I haven't used that service since COD MW3.
