This forum is pretty much dead.

Is there really nothing interesting going on in the world of consoles these days? Or have people just abandoned this forum until the next gen starts rolling in at which point we can resume arguing about which system has more better "bits"? ;)

It's the lull in gaming season. Halo 4 and COD-BO2 come out in Nov, I expect that will perk things up

Other than Madden for a couple months, I have been mainly gaming on the PC lately.

Most of the major titles have been both PC and console, and the threads have been in the PC Gaming forum. Which isn't a bad thing, as I hate to have to read two borderlands threads to find chests.

It does seem to me that console gaming is pretty dead, but I attribute that to what you said above -- I think folks are tired of this generation and are looking towards the next one.

Console gaming is dying for all but the casuals who still buy up every new Call of Duty release. It's just another garbage mainstream media format now.

I wouldn't say console gaming is dead, but these forums cater to tech people who are more likely to build or mod their own computers, so PC gaming is going to be a larger draw than console gaming. I have a PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and the last time I played a game that wasn't on the PC was Forza 4 about a year ago.

Why'd you give up on Forza 4? Everyone says it's the best thing since sliced Miso soup.

I'm not a graphics whore. At all. I'm not a tech/gadget whore. At all.

But in all my time gaming, and I've been console gaming since age 3 on an Atari 5200, I've never been so ready to move on from one generation to the next.

Simply put, this generation is just wearing out its welcome. We've hit the proverbial ceiling years ago, no one is trying anything new (that isn't gimmicky shit, ala motion controls), and there's just a general sense that everyone is holding back really trying until the next true next gen hits.

Other than that, the games are mostly shit. I can't really say it more diplomatically. Rehashes ad nauseam, and the same formulas (bad ones, at that) used and overused.

I'm not saying the next gen will magically cure any of these ills, but it will at least reinvigorate enthusiasts for a short period of time, anyway.

Yeah, this forum is pretty much dead - all the major contributors have moved on. Console gaming is far from dead.

I love how anyone who plays cod is a casual player. Yes i am one of the dreaded people who buy Cod every year. I play with a group who are all in the 30's we also play damn near anything. I own all the new consoles and have a very nice gaming PC, the PC sees all playtime with stuff like Dayz,Starcraft 2, Total War Series. To me the pc is just another console(when it comes to gaming) it has games i cant get on Xbox or ps3 so i play them on the PC.

I'm playing my console games vigorously still, having lots of fun!
I just tend to play older games, I'm not on the bleeding edge with Borderlands 2 and stuff anymore. I get games when they're $40 or less and everyone has moved on to other games already.
If you want to talk BF3 or Tiger Woods 13 or Darkness 2, I'll be right there!

Agreed with all of this.

I would be in for a NHL league.

I tried to get into that playing the demo but the controls are so damn hard! Had to resort to the Classic setup which heavily neutered my abilities in game. :(

I'm still having plenty of fun on current gen stuff. Borderlands 2 is awesome. I have stuff that I started and never finished and want to go back and play. Skyrim. New Vegas. I doubt I'll even jump into the next gen right away, too much of a backlog already. Launch games of new gens always kind of suck anyway.

This next gen can suck it if the entire library of the current gen titles arent backwards compatible.

I really liked it. But I can only race the same cars on the same tracks so many times. It just gets old. In the same span, I've been playing CS: Source, CS: GO, Battlefield 3, Batman: Arkham City, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Assassin's Creed Revelations, Skyrim, Witcher 2, Driver San Francisco, Alan Wake, Portal 2 and probably some others I'm forgetting, all on the PC. Granted, I currently live with a roommate who monopolizes the TV, so playing console games usually isn't an option... but I haven't had any desire to regardless. I'll echo what another poster said; this generation is just wearing out its welcome. It's all been done.

I can understand wanting to be able to play your same games still but the fact of the matter is that for majority of people it's not important. If not having that capability makes the next round of consoles cheaper than I'm all for it.
