So you've found a post/thread you think is "trolling" or otherwise inappropriate...

Here's what to do:

  1. Report it.
  2. If you can do so constructively, respond in the thread to the argument or comment being made, explaining why you think the poster is wrong. As the saying goes, the best response to speech you don't like is speech that you do like.

Here's what not to do:

  1. Do not ignore a post/thread you want action taken on, assuming that a moderator will see it -- we don't read everything.
  2. Do not PM a moderator about the post/thread; this makes it hard for us to keep track of things.
  3. Do not flame the author of the content you dislike.
  4. Do not post sarcastic comments that are likely to tempt the author to flame you.
  5. Do not start a meta-discussion in the thread about whether or not the post/thread is appropriate for the DC.

Thank you for your help.

Thank you for this!

I would still like to see a dictionary meaning for trolling.
I could be dead on subject without straying from topic talking either about the historical aspects and I was still accused of being a troll.

So far I am assuming anyone can be a troll if you do not like their post.
I have yet to see a troll post that someone did like.

Yeah a definition for a troll would be great here, as to prevent any confusion :D
