Viacom is actually distributing their content to more digital places than the other big media companies. People pay a lot of money to have their content on their services. Some of that content is similar to other digital syndication packages they offer so they had to do something.

No matter what anyone thinks, it is never going to be a situation where users can just do whatever they want with whatever intellectual property they want.

It's all just stupid. If I want to watch a daily show I missed.. why cannot I watch it on YouTube? Copywrite laws? Well no one does anything against Tivo and the DVR's...

The one thing Viacom doesn't have is the undying support of the teeming masses.

I'm no lawyer, but the people Google and Viacom have working for them are. I'll let them duke it out. In thoes articles valid points are made on both sides. No injuctions have been made to immediately cease all youtube operations. It should be a nice battle of the titans that ends up in some contract being signed and everyone makes money. The end. :D

I hope you can realize the difference between home recording and broadcasting.

No... What is the difference? You take the media from the original source and display it to people. People being family/friends in your home, or to the masses...

Your EUL clearly states YOU CANNOT rebroadcast media to large groups and that is is for home viewing.

Try watching those warnings at the begining of the DVD before spouting off about how you can broadcast Friends to anyone in the world any time you like.

Perhaps but the owners of the content are allowed to decide that (them being the owners and all)

Those are for your own watching and being taken from the owner's broadcast. Also, they contain commercials. I don't think I've ever seen an online clip/show with commercials left in it :p.
