It seem's as if hundreds of thousands of videos are being pulled from the site. I was actually thinking that freedom of speech did not apply to them. Anyone get this impression?

-TV Show clips especially.. Why pull them? It's free advertising, and it greatly increases ratings for the actual show...
-Violence being pulled... uhm... Why pull it? If its violence they don't want... all people have to do is turn on the television to see a severed head.
-Offensive Content... Why do people choose to watch offensive scenes?

Control Freaks Now...::Sigh:: I used to like YouTube..

I think it is mostly to remove liabilites, they are hosting the content and so if copyrighted content is put on their web page, they become juicy targets for a law suit.

Does it? You have no right to post a video on their servers and they have every right to remove any video for any reason; freedom of speech notwithstanding.

Your answers are fairly obvious.

-Copyright laws. They have a billion dollar lawsuit because they let TV shows stay.
-I don't see severed heads on NBC, ABC, FOX, etc. An occasional dead body, but YouTube isn't trying to be rotten.com.
-If by "offensive content" you mean porn, that is because YouTube would turn into a porn site if it was allowed. People are perverts by nature and all the top videos would be porn. Take a look at any other site that allow it and you'll see what type of audience they have to cater to.

Yeah it sucks, even the delete YouTube content sites are having the "risqué" videos deleted. How does YouTube even have the ability to delete from those sites?!

tv shows: copyright protection
violence: their target market is much larger than the narrowed gruesome freaks
offensive content: videos can be flagged, but to what extent, again, pay attention to the target market

you probably will still visit youtube again, even if you don't like it, fact or fiction?

I use YouTube to watch concert clips, nothing else. If you use YouTube to watch TV shows, move elsewhere. I know there are sites out there with episodes upon episodes of numerous shows. All it takes is a google search.

I didn't mean porn but since that's the first resort for many AT'ers I guess I'll keep quiet on that regard.

Even games that used fraps to record an "in-game moment" is taken off due to blood or violence... Or perhaps a multiplayer game with America as a team. If the person from the American team dies, they pull it.

Freedom of speech does not apply to them, they are a private organization.

-TV Show clips especially.. Why pull them? It's free advertising, and it greatly increases ratings for the actual show...

They are currently being sued by Viacom for allegedly not being proactive enough in pulling down TV shows and such.
