I get in my car and head to pick up something to eat. Along the way I start feeling rather nauseuous. At this point I already know what is going to happen, but I pretend that it won't. I roll down my windows to get some fresh air in the car.

I stop at Subway, and see all this food being shoved into people's mouths. I make it up to the counter and tell her what kind of sandwich I want. Then, I know for a fact that it's coming. The only question is, where should I go? Outside behind the building or to the bathroom? I decide on the bathroom. I tell her to hold my sandwich and that I will be right back...

Make it to the bathroom sink and I vomit for about 2 minutes. Then I wash my face and hands and go back out to the counter, finish ordering my sandwich, pay the lady, and walk out. Fifteen minutes later I eat my sub.

Anyone ever puke after a workout? This is the first time it's happened to me. I sometimes feel a bit queasy, but I've never actually vomited. Since I was easily able to eat my sub afterwards, and I felt a lot better after I puked, I assume that I wasn't/am not sick.

Do you smoke cigarettes or anything? I know when I was a heavy smoker, after long workouts I would get nauseuous. I think it has to do with lack of oxygen but then again, I'm not an MD so what do I know? Since I stopped smoking I don't get nauseuous like before, it strikes every now and then but it has to be a pretty serious workout.

Huh??

At this point I still believed that it would pass. I also knew I generally need to eat something after a workout. I usually eat something an hour before a workout as well.

According to the governor of CA, its very normal to puke in the gym, especially if you work hard.

My question is, did you clean the sink?? Or at least tell them??

I've felt that way on numerous occassions after working out really hard. After a class of jiu jitsu I was so out of it and worn out/dehydrated I actually did vomit come to think of it.

TTT for finding out why our bodies does this after an intense workout!

Only ever had this happen once. We were doing conditioning for soccer, and we were doing figure 8s around the field. While carrying milk jugs filled with sand. After 8 trips around the field in 100 degree weather, I lost it.

Yeah I was pretty careful about that. I thought it may be possible that I was getting sick, so I soaped up just about everything I had touched. The vomit was all liquid though, so it went right down the drain with the help of some water.

I didn't know that Ah-nuld said it was okay to puke after a workout. That makes me feel a lot better, actually. ;)

Nope, not a smoker. My cardio is pretty sad, though, so maybe that has something to do with it.

One time I had to go to the hospital with my mom. Before we left I didn't feel quite right, but I was still hungry, so I ate copious amounts of Wheat Checks, because they rule. So we're at the hospital, and my mom is talking to the nurse about her procedure, and I know it's coming. So I excuse myself and walk briskly down the hall to the bathroom, which is right across the hall from the nurse's desk. When I got in the door I only had time to semi-aim in the general direction of the toilet, and shot what seemed like gallon upon gallon of Wheat Checks onto the rim. I almost got it in but the first part banked off it and onto the wall, and also splattered all over the floor. The toilet was in the corner, so it got on both walls actually. So I do my thing, and then clean up the floor, walls, and outside of the toilet up as best I can and walk out. The nurses are all looking at me because I guess I ralphed audibly with great gusto. I just said,"Somebody puked in there," and walked away

It is ok to puke after extremely strenuous workouts. The key though is making sure you replenish all the liquid you just excreted. Drink water slowly after puking, but make sure you drink alot of it.

If it becomes a regular thing, then it's bad. Try to tone it down a bit, or keep the same amount of activity, just spaced out over a longer period of time. You threw up because you overworked yourself. Overworking is detrimental to any type of gains that you might want to acquire.

I have that after I run too hard...It's usually because of a low blood sugar level. Eat a piece of candy before or during the time you work out or something...It always helps (no, I don't have diabetes). I'm sure if that's it, you'll be fine.

SociallyChallenged is the first one to hit it on the nose. You were most likely hypoglycemic (suffering from extremely low blood sugar).

This happens to me if I take a long (2 weeks or more) break from my workouts and start back too hard.

The cure? I drink a bottle of Powerade or Gaterade during my workout for the first week back in the gym. This keeps my blood sugar up and stops the woozies.

BTW, when you do feel the woozies coming on, STOP and sit down for 15 minutes. They will pass. You puked because you kept trying to function and stand up.

Never thrown up, but I've felt like throwing up on bad workout days. Strange I've never correlated bad workout day with what I've eaten.
