There's nothing wrong with a man having multiple wives or with a woman having multiple husbands. Cultures all over the world have had varying forms of polygamy throughout history. In western civilization, the Roman empire and later the catholic church spread monogamy, but it was a custom issue and has nothing to do with morals.
Few people are by nature monogamous, but most practice serial monogamy.

It's socially wrong because that's what this country was brought up on. However, having only one partner in life is actually against our genetic code, it being overridden by our upbringing from childhood.

If you look at nature such as lions and such, it is the purpose of the male to pass on his genetics to as many females as possible to guarantee that his bloodline will continue. The strongest and most dominate males would have their bloodline continue while the weaker males will have their lines stopped.
