My argument is that you're racist. Don't worry, it's the same stance that many many generations of past Americans have had, including many of our illustrious founding fathers. So don't worry... you're in good company.

Wow, the racist card again. Good one. Why don't you call me gay and retarded while you're at it? That would be the trifecta of childish comebacks.

If you can't see how your argument is racist, then I can't help you. If you don't see how your argument goes against the ideals of our country, I can't help you. I understand that people fear change, and that with a lot more mexicans in our country some of the basics WILL change. You can rail against it all you want, and try to put up official languages... and say that while people come to America they have to speak the way we want them to.... but they don't. And they won't.

It's good that places are changing to a mix of spanish and english, they are responding to the needs of the population. To do otherwise would be a disservice to us all, and would be racist to boot. But sure, tell yourself that you're just fine and that I'm just calling you a racist because I don't have a real argument. I'm sure it will make you feel better.

He's right though... you have no argument other than "You're racist".

Because Congress is afraid of the inevitable Hispanic backlash.

Err, I thought congressman/congresswoman is supposed to look out for the interest of the U S of A and not some foreign ethnic group? Right now the Hispanics have an excuse for not leaning American English, take that excuse away. You want to be in US of A, at least try to learn the language. I can understand older population having trouble with learning a language, but at least try.

IIRC, English won out over German as the language of the nascent US republic by one vote. It is not like it was decreed from on high.

Because of better communication and proximity to their homeland, hispanic newcomers take an extra generation or two to assimilate.
