I have no idea. Do we have to have a purpose? Is there a fundamental law of nature that says we exist for a reason or are we simply here due to happenstance, plodding away at our little, insignifcant lives?

Actually, I was born destined to be a strong leader in desperate times, probably during a future war this country is going to have. I've had visions of it and even nightmares. I've already accepted my fate and I've started training and honing my skills.

Does the current gov. of CA ever enter your dreams?

No, I'm being serious. I live my life everyday for that purpose. That is my one true purpose and reason for existing.

If you want the religious aspect of our purpose here on earth, read Rick Warren's book: A Purpose Driven Life.

It's gives a different twist to some of the "Why am I here" questions.

Bob (Not a religious fanatic, but read alot)

I think maybe you want to feel powerful and in-charge and that is not really a good reason for existence. Look at those who have power and use it and you will see that one year after they are gone they are forgotten. Power is fleeting and is basically an EGO trip.

In the grand scheme of things one human being is like an ant on a giant anthill or a speck of dust in the vast universe.

Many people feel more self worth when they help other people. One other way we can make a difference in the world is to influence people for good. Raising children is a way to change the world. If you raise 2-10 children with good values then they can also do the same and it is like a domino effect for either good or evil depending how you raise them.

Try this for Christmas for fun. Pick one person or a family and give them some small gifts on their doorstep and just leave a Note "Your Christmas Pixie has left this for you because some loves you and thinks you are a great person." Think of the Joy it will bring someone else. No one needs to know it is you. The joy is just knowing you made a difference not for the recognition but because you have true love and compassion for another human being.
