my guess would be that it goes through the western most point of the Continental US (48° 22' 51.28" N latitude, 124° 43' 55.51" W longitude)?

Looks like that point is south of the route. Maybe it wants you to go "kayaking" to Australia through Canadian waters :p or maybe they want you to visit Microsoft's campus on the way ;)

Google maps pointed him from San Diego to Seattle, then kayaking to Sydney. He originally just wanted San Diego to Sydney. It doesn't make sense, click the smiley, trace the route.

The route doesn't make sense because the request didn't make sense. Ask a stupid question....

About a year ago if you put in say New York to Paris, France it would say SWIM across Atlantic Ocean 3,000 miles.

They took it off though, and it says cannot calculate directions
