I watched a nice, informative appearance of Michael Moore on Morning Joe. I have to say I start to like this guy more and more. He absolutely nailed it again....sometimes in a way you want to slap your face in embarrassing hindsight.
Let me just freely recap from memory what he said, among MANY other things in the 45min segment on the show.

So basically, you have these people in middle America, rural America, and elsewhere who live paycheck to paycheck. Poor, struggling. Every April 10th, they do their taxes. Like anyone else, they try paying as little as even possible to the gvt, or better, nothing at all.
Then. The debates going on. It comes to the allegations that Trump didn't release his tax returns.
Clinton, ranting:
"The only years that anybody's ever seen were a couple of years when he had to turn them over to state authorities when he was trying to get a casino license, and they showed he didn't pay any federal income tax"
Trump, bending down to the microphone, "That makes me smart."
[Hundreds of thousands of the struggling, those people who don't want pay anything each April 10th, now likely cheering and clapping right there watching this. They found their hero!! THIS IS THEIR MAN. THIS IS THE MAN I AM VOTING FOR!!]

And this is why Trump won, among many other things.
