I didnt really see a thread like this through searching. If this is in wrong section, please move it mods. I am just curious as to what everyone plans to do!

Im definetely getting the game today if is actually delivered to the store. I stopped at ebgames at around 10 and they were waiting for UPS delivery. I was around the area anyway for a doctors appt so thats why I stopped by right when they opened. Im going to call around 12ish to see if its in yet.

I did see the strategy guide there and its HUGE. I may get the guide as you get a 20% bonus if you buy guide with the game as most people know. I dont really use guides so I plan on completeing the game straight through (do the main story line) on my first play without use of the guide and then will use the guide for my second play through to make sure I collect all the cool stuff throughout the game. Im interested to see how this game brings our machines to its knees! In case anyone doesnt know NVIDIA plans on releasing a new driver sometime in the middle of this week with many Oblivion tweaks/optimizations for better performance. Hopefully the game does come out today and not tomorrow. Its my bday today so would be a nice present. I turned 22 btw if anyone cared (doubt it lol).

So are you guys planning on getting today if its actually released and what kind of characters do you plan on playing? Fighters/melee, magic users? Assassins, theifs? Murderers? Or all of the above? :D

Also if you do get it today, please list the store/area afterwards so we can know where to find it! I preorderd the collectors edition so I should be cool. Most collectors editions are sold out so if you are really hyped up for the game i'd try to score a copy as soon as possible if you want the Collectors Edition!

I have a 7900GT, Opteron @ 2.8, 1GB ram and a Raptor as my main game drive so Im hoping I can run this game at high quality! I have a 19inch widescreen monitor so I will be running the game at 1440x900, gonna look sweet!

I'm gonna play a melee character and I'll get this game once I finally do my PC upgrade. It should happen real soon but I'm waiting for the availability of the NEC 2090UXi LCD and also the vaporware'ish 7900 GTX cards.

Yes I usually always play a melee character when I first play an RPG just because they are usually the easiest to learn how to play the game and the game mechanics and stuff. Then I usually step up to a harder class after ive gotten the hang of the game. So you are only upgrading graphics/monitor? Everything else is good to go I assume?

arr my copy i can pick it up in few hrs :! arround 10.00am

anyways i am playing FFXII now :! its damn awesome game but now oblivion will have to really wow me on story to beat FXII WOW factor :!

With Oblivion i will be picking up my x1900xt Mastercard and my new mobo ASUS mobo and also 3GB OCZ 4200 ram , AMD Opteron 180. but i am sleepy now :( its 3.14AM and i need to go and do stuff in few hrs :! arr i hate it when you sleep late in night. anyways now i will sleep.

I will be making my 3rd comp :!

Opteron 180 and going to oc it 3.0Ghz
2GB OCZ 4200
X1900XT + X1900 Master card
ASUS Crossfire 3200
Cool Master Stacker case (can have two PSU if i need for crossfire)
520W OCZ stream PSU
Dell 2045FPW

with my current comp which is :
X1900XT
ASUS AN8 SLI-32
2GB OCZ 3200 Rev 2
Antec P180 case
Opteron 165 @ 2.7Ghz

I will take out the x1900xt and put in the new comp and buy 2x7900GTX.

SO this upgrade will cost me alot but with my discount it shouldn't be that much.

I will test the 2 setup and see which one I like and then chose if i want SLI or crossfire and then sell Setup i don't like on ebay to some fruite cake for the same price i bought it at. Amazing how much expensive things sell on Ebay AUstralia.

You got confirmation itll be available today? Or are you just hoping you can pick it up then?

BTW FF-XII looks sweet but I dont have PS2 anymore. Ive always liked the FF series but it doesnt look like ill be able to play this one unless I get a ps2 which I dont see happening.

edit: I just called EBgames and he said its not supposed to be out till tomorrow!

Another confirmation, Gamestop also said TOMORROw when I called! Looks like its tomorrow then! Oh well, another day for you guys to get your upgrades.

Nope, I'm upgrading to dual core CPU, 2 GB RAM, etc. It's a huge upgrade in fact. I just want to buy everything at once so I'm waiting for the monitor and GTX availability.

Im really glad bethesda utilized multithreading. Its one of the first titles that has, and im looking forward to actually getting a performance boost out of my X2.

Other than that, mostly everyone is screwed. Most people wont be able to play the game at all high settings or anything. I know im not, 6600GT and all.

The good thing for you is that the lower resolutions are the ones to get the better boost from a dual-core CPU, not the people who play 1600x1200. That is, if their dual-core performance follows the likes of Quake's. However, if it is like COD2 dual-core, then there is no performance increase at all.

I'm hoping that Oblivion will see nice increases across the board with dual core. I've been sitting on the fence for an X2 for a while now with nothing really swaying me.

Im in the same boat you are, im using a single core opty and nothing has really made me want to make the jump to DC. We will see soon enough whether or not its really making a difference in this game.

Pre-ordered it weeks ago(CE:)), but went cheap on the shipping at amazon so I hope I get it Friday. Going to have to burn $300 on a new VC anyways, Radeon 9600 didn't cut it when I got it last summer(stuck on AGP), and it won't cut it now.

Yep, I just put my 6600GT on ebay. Hoping to get a 7800GT.

I preordered the non CE. They were out by the time I did. I probably wont have enough $ to get it tommorow, so ill just skip on my preorder and get the CE later on. It will be worth it.

If HDR+AA doesnt run, its not ATI's fault, it's Bethesda Softworks fault. I guess this means I'm definately getting the 360 version. I was contemplating PC version and planned to play at these settings:

1280x1024, Maximum, w/HDR, 4x Adaptive AA/16x HQAF

You guys think thats a no-go?

He has the same video card as you do. If he is right, HDR and AA isnt possible, which means you should get the 360 version.

I wouldnt skip out just yet though. Wait until more people have it tommorow.

Picking my preorder(CE) tomorrow- went with the 360 version(will pick up the PC version when some decent mods show up).

Plan to play through as an Alchemist as I usually do in Elderscroll games- not sure if they will still allow the quick demi god power levels using that character class though(Intelligence 900Million inside a coule of hours- they knew all about it and never removed it from Morrowind- for those that don't know the cap on attributes was supposed to be 100). Either way, lots of cash to be made as an Alchemist to buy everything required to be an uber Wizard.

Well like all Xbox 360 games it should have 2xAA, but @ 1280x720p, 2xAA isnt going to help much.

It'd also be prudent to check out their use of Bloom. Although I've not been a big fan of Bloom in past games, if Bethesda did it right, it might be a very good substitute... especially since you can use AA with it.

The gamestop in my area got Elder Scrolls 4 today and I got my copy.

And people saying this game is going to bring everyone's computer "to it's knees" is wrong. With my system I can play 12x10 w/ HDR w/ Very High details quite smoothly. The game looks amazing and i can't wait to finish the report i have to have done by tomorrow and play it some more....

and by the way, you cannot use AA with HDR, at least with my card you can't. I haven't tried bloom yet though, just full HDR, so that may work.
