Giuliani will be named the replacement.
If this were going to happen, it would've happened before the election.
No. That would have been a mistake for the Bush campaign. That's a major move and to do it before an election would rattle the foundations of the Bush supporters.

Cheney is out of politics after this term, Giuliani will be named a replacement before long.

Agreed. Replacing Cheney before the election would have hurt him substantially. Though I'm not sure if Guiliani will be the VP.

I wonder in McCain would accept the VP position to gear up for '08/

Cheney wont be running in 08. He has too much liability attached to him. He is actually not very well liked among his own voters much less the swing voters.

I am guessing a guy like Giuliani will probably get the nomination.

I don't know how Giuliani feels in regards to a lot of moral issues... but on things I have heard him talk about, I would be really interested in seeing him run for President.

Yeah, I'm going with Conjur on this one. I'd rather have Bush AGAIN (yeah, I know that wouldn't work) than Guiliani. I lost all respect for the guy when he was on the Daily Show after the first debate lying straight to my face about what I just saw 30 minutes ago. And yes, he has been a big whore during the last part of this election. I know he's a Repub, but so's McCain and I didn't see him acting like that.

Guiliani is pretty much retired, I dont think hes coming back to politics. He stated last night hes very happy in his private life now.

McCain may be too old come '08, besides, the Reps will likely go for a young, fresh face.

Perhaps in '08 we will see the battle of the young stars, Obama vs Thune?

Gonna be Jeb, and he will have all the money behind him and no matter what George does he will win.

How's that?

I definitely couldn't see him running for POTUS... but I could easily see him as VP or running against Hillary Clinton for her Senate seat in '06, assuming she decides to run for re-election (I'd wager, though, that if she's serious about '08, she won't run in '06... as proven by Kerry and numerous others, it's a bad idea to run for president while you're still a sitting senator).

it's *way* too early to even consider Barak for Pres in '08. he may be popular amongst the democrates, but he has a lot of obstacles to overcome if he wants to be considered for President. a VP possibility seems like a safe bet, though.

I don't know much about him, except for the link posted. What obstacles does he need to overcome, besides the unfortunate obvious reality?

Kerry / Edwards will probably come back with a more centrist platform.

I see a Gulianni / Jeb Bush in the mix as well.

Oh, I hope you're wrong on both counts.

1. he is extremely liberal (at least judging by his state votes)
2. he is extremely inexperienced (might well hold his own on debates, unlike Edwards, but not many would trust him as a war president)
3. if he's seriously thinking about running, he's going to need to have that in the back of his mind with every Senate vote he casts. as proven with Kerry, just about any vote can be twisted around to make you look weak.

I pray Hilary is the nominee. That would be a bigger republican sweep than Reagan/Mondale...

Sorry, folks. There will NEVER be a woman president in any of our lifetimes....
