Fairfax, VA-Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign has sent threatening letters to news agencies in Pennsylvania and Ohio to stop airing ads exposing his anti-gun record sponsored by the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF).

The kicker? NRA-PVF's Ohio?s ads have not yet begun running.

?Barack Obama and his campaign are terrified of the truth,? declared Chris W. Cox, Chairman of NRA-PVF. ?Sen. Obama's statements and support for restricting access to firearms, raising taxes on guns and ammunition and voting against the use of firearms for self-defense in the home are a matter of public record. NRA-PVF will make sure that everyone knows of Obama's abysmal record on guns and hunting.?

The Obama campaign sent cease and desist letters to news outlets in Pennsylvania and Ohio, denouncing the ads and demanding their removal from the airwaves. All stations where NRA-PVF has purchased or plans to purchase ads have been provided with documented evidence of Sen. Obama's anti-gun record.

NRA-PVF Memo

NRA-PVF Response to Washington Post "fact check"

?Barack Obama would be the most anti-gun president in our nation's history. That's the truth,? concluded Cox. ?NRA-PVF has the facts on our side. No amount of running from or lying about his record and then intimidating news outlets in the hope of deceiving American gun owners and hunters is going to work. Those strong arm tactics may work in Chicago, but not in Pennsylvania and Ohio, and not as long as NRA-PVF has anything to say about it.?

After reading everything I don't understand why he trying to take leagal action. He supported it at one time, even if some of it was almost ten years ago.

The things that worried me most were the 500% Tax on Guns and ammo, a bill he voted on as a semi-auto weapon ban even though it included other guns that weren't semi; like break action shotguns.

I wish they would define better in the bills what constitutes what, there is too many variables that could be persuaded in court to be legal or illegal. It needs to be clearly defined instead of leaving it up to a judge to determine.

But it seems like all the people in politics like to leave things open, kind of like some of the contracts you have to sign to get a job, encompass everything then determine whether you really meant that later. Seems awfully lazy/sloppy.

His voting positions are a matter of public record. Why would he fight to keep them off the air? Doesn't sound very honest to me.

Repost, and a bad one to do so as well.

Read the letter from the Obama team and you will see they point out the false information in the ads. Also they are asking for them to not be played based on the lies/mis-information.

And read the response from the NRA and you will see a point by point response to the "fact check" that the Obama letter relies on.

Oh my God and Annie get your gun. The nerve of Obama to even suggest that the NRA does not tell the complete truth.

Silly Rabbits, I would rather hear NRA lies any day. Sorry folks, can't tarry long, I'm off to my nearest Western Union to send the NRA an instant money gram twice as large as the one I sent before. And the one I sent before is four times as large as the one I will be sending soon.

Isn't this the same kind of tactics he's used on the whole campaign, including his state seat? Also, reading the NRA facts I don't see how one can argue against facts. Add in Obama's stance before and after the supreme court decision, his idea of a legal hand gun to be a single shot target pistol...no wonder he wants to keep the truth off the air.
