So who makes better pancakes? Christians or Atheists?

Just working toward the 42nd religious thread. Besides, I intend to bring this up in conversation in a few hours, thereby giving this thread a purpose. 😀

I think you meant this to be a fun thread but some may not understand that christianity is not being singled out in the discussion with atheists. It's believers of a supernatural, all-knowing and all-powerful presence whose existence requires a suspension of disbelief that is contentious. So it should be christian, jewish, muslim, hindi, etc, etc. vs. atheist. Of course, my understanding of the atheist viewpoint could be incomplete.

You know this isn't july 4th, right? You don't need any fireworks at family gatherings.

Religious people are much better than athiests, on average. So I will have to say Christians.

except for the 6000 years of holy wars and senseless killing, right?

I vote nay on the banhammering. Lock if you must, but no need to nail the guy for at least a somewhat entertaining post.

I always find it funny most that recommend bannings for these kinds of posts, post much more in the same way just never start their own threads.

Well, if the Christian pancake ends up looking like Jesus, they'll want to save it and won't serve it to you. That is a wasted pancake.

I voted Atheist.

Funny guy. Like the senseless killings over those years had anything to do with actual religious beliefs, and weren't because of human nature and the desire of evil people to keep/gain power and an excuse for others to commit violence.

Politics, religion, philosophy, and science will always be hijacked by people seeking to further their own agendas. I honestly feel sorry for anyone who actually believes otherwise.

You are projecting modern views of religious tolerance on peoples of the past. People really did whack the shit out of each other based solely on theological disagreement.

They still do.

No, I am not. You are missing the point. I'm not saying people don't disagree on religious issues. What I am saying is that hatred and violence over these issues aren't dependent on the particular religious issues, because people will find points of disagreement on anything and everything. The main problem is human pride.

The reason I responded was to make it clear that religion isn't the only thing that can be manipulated and used as a tool to control and destroy. I often see ignorant statements and poor arguments that religion, mainly Christianity, is the cause for millions of deaths and the torturing of people in the past. All beliefs, not just religious ones, can be (and are) used as points of contention and tools of murders and dictators.
