So...i will be in japan next june-aug and i'm looking to import some cars and parts i will buy when i'm over there...i'm just wondering if anyone knows some good companies to go with and if you know any specifics on importing a car from another country and having it legally registered to drive on US streets. thanks :D

The only thing I know about is that you have to have the speedo and all that jazz converted to miles instead of kilometers. Seems I also read about some emissions and junk somewhere, but not sure on that.

Do they sell the car in the US?

well the car i want they dont sell over hear...but there are ssome they do sell over hear...
yes, japan drives on the left side...which means the car is RHD

There are alot of companies that will do most of the work for you -- paperwork + shipping.

Keep in mind you'll have to pay duty (tax) on the item(s).

I've heard that it is very difficult if the vehicle, as configured, is not currently sold in the US. They still make & sell Toyota Land Cruiser FZJ80's (last sold here in 1997) in Venezuela and maybe other parts of south america. Including options you could never get here like standard transmission, part time 4WD and maybe diesel. Which gets cruiserheads all hot and bothered. But AFAIK, nobody has managed to get one up here to the US, though some have looked into it.
