So who is is still going old school and using cds?

I have an ipod connector in my car and I still prefer cd's.

<3 cd's

Of course, that's only because I have the shitty belkin unit that picks up some noise which fucks up my shit. If I had an alpine ipod unit I'd be all over that shit.

I try to go for quality over convenience so I use a CD or some sort of lossless format when I can. Dunno about investing in a dedicated cd player quite yet. No idea where this technology is going.

I'm real old school and just listen to the radio for the 10 minutes each way it takes me to go to and from work.

Ugh, I tried that when the CD player stopped working, and it turns out that morning DJs make me want to drive at a high rate of speed into oncoming traffic, and in the afternoon, I can hear the same song playing at the same time on two different stations, and not find a song that I actually want to listen to.
YMMV, I know radio doesn't suck as bad everywhere as it does here.

I just put a record player on a piece of a memory foam mattress, far superior sound than your crazy MP3's.

Yup. I have never bought a digital-only copy of anything media related. I don't own any form of portable media player. I've just never found any of the ipods/clones very compelling, and I refuse to pay for lossy compressed music.

If I could find a car deck that would play FLAC from DVD media I would probably buy that.

CDs are old school for car audio these days? :Q

I listen to the radio pretty much exclusively when I'm in my car these days. FM radio that is. I let someone else decide what I listen to.

I use CDs almost exclusively in my car, even though it has audio input for an mp3 player. Everywhere else I use mp3s.

I don't know that I'm all that concerned with pristine quality audio in my car, because there's always road noise. Now, when I'm just sitting at home listening to music... 🙂

MP3 player almost all of the time, but soon I will have a new record player to play all my old 12" and 7" records. My CDs just collect dust in my storage area.

Although generally listen to music off my MP3 player at home and in the car except on short trips in which case just use the CD player.

I was cleaning my car out and threw away my cd case and all my cds, I never use them so whatever. I use my Zune 80 with my Pioneer's aux input.

Sadly my car stereo is plain CDs only (no MP3 CDs) and has no aux port. So I'm stuck unless I replace the stereo (which I'm strongly considering doing).

I always buy CDs - I have never purchased anything off of iTunes or anything similar, other than the Ricky Gervais podcasts and Radiohead's In Rainbows (before it was available on CD). Better sound quality + no DRM + available very cheaply used on Amazon and elsewhere + cover art + the ability to rip copies whenever I wish = the win.

I do, however, use an iPod classic in the car, which is controllable through my head unit - no getting around the convenience of having an entire record collection at my fingertips, controllable on my steering wheel.

Decks with MP3 support on CD is old school already. It's all about USB these days. A 16GB or 32GB flash drive should hold more than enough music for the road. If that isn't enough then pickup a 1.8" laptop hdd in a usb enclosure. No more burning cds or swapping discs.
