looking to buy an Axim X51v.

those of you who owns an axim. what is your experience with it?

I have an Axim but it gets put away for the Treos they gave us. I hate carrying a brick and another phone around... I rather just carry one device.

I have one. A Dell Axim x5. The novelty wears off after a couple months, and now it sits around collecting dust. It does nothing well, not internet, or even functioning as a PIM as I have a small 12" laptop that is 100% better than the pocket pc for these tasks. Big waste of money for me.

Anyone own one with a 400mhz or faster cpu and a VGA screen? How is it for web browsing? Is it decent or slow ass folk like the PSP? With the 624mhz strong arm, VGA, and WM 5, I would imagine it has improved.

I purchased one and set it back after a few weeks. I mean it's cool and all, but It's nothing like my Treo 700p. With Internet and the ability to do everything the Axim can...it's so much better.

i have one with the 624mhz cpu and vga screen

speed is pretty good...however, pages render better in opera mobile as compared to pocket IE...problem is that opera costs $24 now

i use my axim with the same setup...x50v + bluetooth GPS receiver

Have an X50, works great. Just got a treo in the past week now the axim just sits around as I used it primarily as an organizer. I love my treo though. Now if only palm would put wifi in these things, all would be complete

I really like my x51v. One thing I would HIGHLY recommend if you get one: check the firmware version. When I got mine (this past winter) it still had the first firmware installed A01. I just recently upgraded to the most recent A06 (have to hard reset your axim, meaning you format/lose any data/progs you've installed), but it has made it 100% more stable. It was honestly a completely headache/POS before that (constant soft resets/crashes for me at least). Since that, I am much more satisfied.

Myself I use it for some scheduling but mostly GPS atm. I would like to use it more, I'm just lazy
