Yeah. If you live in the US, you might as well get a .22 rifle

I really don't think its possible to take a .22 rifle out in the back lawn and shoot some targets. I"m quite sure the neighbors wouldn't be very appreciative of that. 😛

Get a silencer!

I got a nice G3 SAS from Red Wolf a few years ago.
It has the Highest level 4 upgrade that was available from them.
Pretty nice but I dont get out into the field with it as much as I used to.

As for all the folks touting real guns: I promiser you if somebody brings a real gun to an airsoft or paintball tournament the judges will be very upset.

The whole point is to NOT kill the opponents when you shoot them.
They just walk off the field and wait until the next round.
Even a .22 would make returning for another round very difficult. 😉

Whether you acknowledge it or not, it is a type of air gun.

I have had the RWS 34 for at least 10 years and have been very happy with it. It is reliable and accurate. It also packs quite a punch. I can attest to the fact that it can take down pesky city dwelling groundhogs with one shot (headshot). It is nice to have in places where you can not shoot a regular gun.

Airsoft guns ARE pellet guns...

I have one of these and love it.

Agree with other posters that the ~$200 marks seems to separate the good from the junk. If you're just planning on plinking and/or small game hunting (birds, rabbits, squirrels, etc), .177 will be fine and will provide you with the most choices of rifles. I'd recommend .22 if you plan on "larger" small game hunting (turkey, groundhogs, etc), but this can be done with a .177 with well placed shots.

Also, check out this site for a lot of excellent reviews, and this site for more products.

Also, as previously mentioned, RWS 34 (whether synthetic or wood stock) seems to be renowned for reliability accuracy, etc.
